Cross Country/Minot

Valley City Hi-Liner Cross Country took to the soggy turf of Minot’s Souris Valley Golf Course over the weekend. The monster meet brought dozens of teams and hundreds of runners to compete in the rainy conditions.

In Men’s Varsity 5K, Valley City’s Hale Berntson was the first finisher for the Hi-Liners, but was beat to the line by 110 other runners, first place going to Robert White of New Town with an incredible 16:07.78 time.

Of the 240-some runners competing in the Men’s Varsity 5K, Jamestown, Red River and Century runners stepped across the finish line toward the front as well, earning 1st (Century), 2nd (Red River) and 3rd (Jamestown) places overall in men’s varsity. Valley City placed 25th, garnering 817 points overall.
