Hi-Liner Boys Basketball faced the Jamestown Blue Jays, last year’s Class A State Champions, in both team’s season opener.

The Blue Jays came out strong, blazing to a 25-7 lead in the opening minutes of the game, and the Hi-Liners were never able to recover.

During the second half, Jamestown’s offense continued to click, scoring 45. Their defense allowed only 17 second-half points for Valley City, leading the Jays to a 87-43 win.

Hi-Liner Girls Basketball also traveled to Jamestown for their season opener. Like the Jamestown boys, the Blue Jay ladies quickly jumped out to a big lead, 16-0. The Hi-Liners couldn’t answer back to close the score gap, and the score was 31-13 Blue Jays by the half.

Whatever was said in the visitors locker room seemed to work, as Valley City came out on fire, going on a 17-7 run and made the score 38-30 Jays. Though the Hi-Liners outscored Jamestown 34-33 during the second half, the first half was enough for Jamestown to come away with the win, 64-47.
