It’s been a month since International Trigeminal Neuralgia Awareness Day but for at least one local resident, every day can be a harsh reminder of the painful condition.

Shirley Starke of Valley City describes her pain as this: “feeling as if shards of red-hot or poisoned broken glass were shooting around in my face, cutting me from forehead to eyeball to cheek.”

Starke was diagnosed with trigeminal neuralgia in August of 2015.

More information about Starke's battle with TN can be found in the Nov. 7 edition of the Times-Record.
