City Discusses Special Election for Mayor

The Valley City City Commission moved to accept a petition calling for a special election for mayor at a special meeting Wednesday morning.

Commissioners discussed a tentative timeline and plans to adopt a resolution of the official timeline at the June 7 regular meeting.

At Wednesday's meeting, where commissioner Madeline Luke was absent, commissioners discussed allowing Valley City residents the chance to circulate a petition to run for mayor from June 13 to July 12.

The commission talked about giving candidates 64 days to campaign and having the special election on Thursday, Sept. 15.
