The Drivers License Office in Valley City remains closed until further notice, but Glenn Jackson, director of driver's licenses for the North Dakota Department of Transportation, is asking the public's help to find a new location.

The office located at the National Guard Armory at 747 Seventh Street Southeast closed in October.

Jackson told the Times-Record then that the Valley City Armory went into lockdown because of increased security.

"The result is the armory location has become inconvenient for staff and customers," Jackson said.

Jackson said Tuesday that his office has been working with Valley City City Administrator David Schelkoph, the Valley City Area Chamber of Commerce and some local realtors to find a location, but "so far nobody's been able to help us find a good location."

"We're still working with anybody that we can for space so that we can find a place where we can move into," Jackson said.

He asks that anyone with a location idea in mind contact him at (701) 328-4792.

In the meantime, customers needing driver's license services can travel to other nearby locations, such as Jamestown, Fargo, Oakes or Lisbon.

The Jamestown office is located at 300 Second Avenue Northeast, Suite 139 and is open Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., and the Fargo office is located at 503 38th Street South and is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. The Oakes office is located at 124 5th Street South and is open the second Wednesday of the month from 9:20 a.m. to 3:40 p.m., and the Lisbon office is located at 504 Prospect Street and is open the second Thursday of the month from 8:40 a.m. to 4:20 p.m.

Olson said that the Valley City closure does not affect vehicle registration services with the Motor Vehicle Office located at the Rosebud Visitors Center.
