Barnes ON THE MOVE Partnership members will serve free salad samples at the farmers market at the Rosebud Visitors Center parking lot in Valley City from 4-6 p.m.

Jefferson Elementary School back-to-school night. The Parent Teacher Organization will serve supper from 5-7 p.m. in the gymnasium. Students and parents can bring their school supplies to their classroom and meet their teacher from 5-7 p.m. A freewill offering will be taken to help defray the cost of food.

The Valley City-Barnes County Public Library Genealogy Club meets at 6 p.m.

Wednesday, August 26
Dacotah Bank Friends and More Club members get free admission to the 1 p.m. movie showing at the Valley City Theater. Call Tara or Laura at (701) 845-2712 to register or for more information about the club.

The Valley City-Barnes County Public Library Book Club meets at 2 p.m. with "Thunderstruck" by Larson. No Circle Time or story hour.

Central Avenue HealthMart Pharmacy will offer free health screenings from 3-6 p.m.

Faith Lutheran Church's "Back to School Luau" will be held from 5-7 p.m. at the Dacotah Pavilion in Chautauqua Park. The event will feature dinner and games for kids.

A farmers market will be held in the Shopko parking lot in Valley City from 4-6 p.m.

A financial workshop on investing basics will be held at the Valley City-Barnes County Public Library at 12 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

The Hi-Liner Booster Board will host a freewill offering burger and brat feed starting at 5:30 p.m. before the first Hi-Liner football game at Hanna Field.

Saturday, August 29
A farmers market will be held in the Veterans Memorial Park in Valley City from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Valley City Hi-Lites will host a car wash and bake sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Valley City VFW Club. A bake sale will be held inside during the VFW burgers and the car wash will be held in Veterans Memorial Park.

Dance to Dusty James River Band from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. at the Valley City Eagles Club.

A hog roast will be held at the Dazey Sodbusters bullorama grounds at 6 p.m. The all-you-can-eat meal is $10 and includes corn on the cob. The event also features bingo bacon.

Sunday, August 30
The Sheyenne Valley Friends of Animal will hold the walk and wag-a-thon. Registration is at 1 p.m. and the walk begins at 1:30 p.m. rain or shine. Lunch will be provided for a freewill donation. The event also features door prizes, pet portraits, trail trivia and games for pets and their owners.

Corn Feed and Righteous Rides Car Show, sponsored by the Zion Lutheran Church, will be held in the Oriska Park from 4-7 p.m.
