Blizzard Photo
Tomorrow, the National Weather Service is predicting a potential "blizzard" for our area that could bring fresh snow, winds sustained at 30mph and gusting in excess of 50 mph, and wind chill temperatures reaching 40 degrees below zero.  Based upon the current forecast, the arrival of this storm should be between 1am-5am and this should allow us to have a really good idea of the weather conditions prior to making a decision by 6:30am.  If this weather follows the current forecast, the conditions could lead to a "No Travel Advisory" and "Blizzard Warning" for our region.  Please know that we will remain tuned into the forecast and prepared to make a decision by 6:30am tomorrow morning.

For your information, I've attached our 2019-2020 VCPS Winter Weather plan and have also listed our past storm days and future storm make-up days on our calendar for 2019-2020:

Past Storm Days in 2019-2020
Friday, October 11th- NO SCHOOL (No Make-Up for this Day)
Friday, January 17th- 2:30pm Dismissal (No Make-Up for this Day)

Future Storm Make-Up Days in 2019-2020 (in order they would be used)
Friday, May 22nd
Monday, March 23rd
Friday, March 20th
Monday, April 13th

Please know that we will be required to make-up any additional school this year that is cancelled due to winter weather.  VCPS does qualify for a "Grace Day" under North Dakota law because of the length of our current school day, therefore, we do not need to make up the cancellation in October and early dismissal in January.

Thank you,
