With the area seeing high amounts of rainfall this past month, Lake Ashtabula and the Sheyenne River have taken to swallowing docks and equipment, as well as trees and riverbanks.
The September-October 2019 Weather & Climate Review from the National Weather Service Grand Forks offers a bit of insight as to what the heck this weather has been in September and what we can expect in October.
In their review, the NWS observes what North Dakotans knew to be true: this past month has been abnormally wet, with higher than average precipitation. Grand Forks set a new September precipitation record, recording a total of 9.07 inches, and Fargo recorded its 10th wettest September with a total of 4.47 inches.
