Thanks to the atmospheric disturbances traversing the area, we’ve been seeing frigid temperatures, light snow, and high winds, all amounting to blizzard conditions and biting windchills up to -40 below in some areas.
The beginning of the week offered a bit of winter optimism, with thermometers climbing above 25-30ºF on Monday and Tuesday. Alas, the positive attitude and daily temperatures could not last. Arctic air is now filtering south from the Canadian border, plummeting temperatures into the negatives. From Tuesday afternoon to early this morning, the temperature fell almost 30 degrees, along with snow showers and ever-increasing winds (gusts up to 50 mph today).
