The Barnes County Museum has been a place of history and wonder for many who have walked through its glass paneled doors. While some museum frequents may know the museum layout, what many patrons don’t know, is that the Valley City Barnes County Museum is the oldest museum in North Dakota. I worked with Wes Anderson, the curator of the Barnes County Museum to get a better understanding of the cultural significance of the space.
