VCSU womens basketball announces signee

Erika Ettl, a 5-foot-3-inch combo-guard attending school in Japan has signed a letter-of-intent to play basketball at Valley City State University, coach Jill DeVries announced Monday.
Ettl averaged 19 points and 10 assists in her senior season at Yokota High School, a U.S. Department of Defense school in Mainland Japan. She is a four-year starter and four time All-Conference performer in the seven-team Kanto Plains League.
“We are very excited to have Erika join our program,” DeVries said. “When I saw her at basketball camp last summer, I was impressed with her skill-set. She has great footwork and a very high basketball I.Q.
“When I met her and her parents, I knew immediately that she is the kind of person we want in our program.”
Ettl has also been named to the Stars and Stripes All-Pacific team twice, an honor that only five players Pacific-wide are chosen for, and has been All-Far East in her junior and senior seasons, which made her among 12 players chosen from 16 schools, including some in Guam, Korea, the Philippines, Okinawa, Japan, and Hong Kong.
“Erika is a game changer. She can score in so many ways, but what is even more impressive is how she distributes the ball. She is fun to watch and I believe she will become a favorite of a lot of Viking fans.” DeVries said.
Ettl ends her high school career at Yokota High School as the all-time leader in both scoring (with 1,846 points) and assists (612.)
