Valley Twisters perform well at recent meets

The Valley Twisters gymnastics teams performed well in meets last month.
The team started by competing in the 2012 Frosty Classic, held in Valley City Jan. 14 and 15.
The Twisters Level 4 team took third, but did not have enough athletes for a team score in Levels 5 or 6.
For the Level 4 team Jennifer Anderson was 1st on the Balance Beam. Olivia Olson placed 10th. Michaela Thiebert placed 4th on the Uneven Bars and 4th on the Vault with a score 9.4. Anderson placed 9th on Vault with a 9.3. Anderson also placed 7th on Floor.
Thiebert took 5th place in the All Around with a score of 35.80 while Anderson tied for 8th place with a score of 35.550.
Members of the Level 4 team are Thiebert, Anderson, Olson, Jocey Kriewald, Britta Roehrich and Rebekah Kauffman. The entire team has now qualified for the state meet.
Alyssa Baade, Level 5, and Kennadee Jorissen, Level 6, also competed for the Twisters at the meet.
Teams from Fargo, Minnesota, Dickinson, Jamestown and Bismarck were among the 150 gymnasts participated in the weekend event.
The Twisters then traveled to Bismarck for their next competition the 2012 Julie Ziegler Memorial Gymnastics Meet Jan. 21.
The Level 4 team continued to place well, finishing with the second place trophy.
The Twisters performed well on the bars, placing five gymnasts in the top 10. The top three spots were filled by Michaela Thiebert, Jennifer Anderson and Jocey Kriewald. Rebekah Kauffman placed 8th and Olivia Olson took 10th.
Thiebert also placed first on the vault with a 9.4 followed by Anderson who scored a 9.3 to take second. Kriewald had the 4th highest score with a 9.2.
On the beam Thiebert tooth 8th place and Britta Roerich came in 10.
Thiebert also placed 6th on the floor. She finished with a 35.50, which put her in 2nd place overall. Two other Twisters finished in the top ten, Kriewald in 5th and Anderson in 7th.
Level 5 gymnast Alyssa Baade placed 8th on the Bars and her all around score was good for a 10th place finish. Teammate Hannah Sorensen tied for 10th on the vault.
Kennadee Jorissen, Level 6, placed third on floor and fourth on vault.
Bismarck Gym Academy, American Gold, Jamestown Gym Club, Sidney Gymnastics, Western Stars, Gymagic, and Red River Valley also competed at the meet.
The Twisters will have a couple weeks off before their next meet in Jamestown on Feb. 18 and 19.
BCN girls beat LMM
Emily Albrecht scored 21 points to lead Barnes County North’s 61-36 win over Litchville-Marion/Montpelier Thursday.
Albrecht had 10 of her team’s 17 points in the first quarter, in which the Bison outscored LMM 17-11.
BCN added another 18 points in the second quarter to go up 35-19 at halftime and led the rest of the way.
SaraLi Peterson also had 13 points for BCN andTanys Ulmber had 12 for LMM.
LMM boys lose to Enderlin
The LMM boys lost on the road Tuesday, falling 52-34 to Enderlin.
The Rebels allowed only 20 points in the first half, but also struggled to put in in the basket and fell behind 20-11 at halftime
They were then outscored 32-23 in the second half.
Dylan Thompson led LMM with 11 points and Devil Piehl had seven.
The loss followed a 47-42 loss to Oakes over the weekend, in which Thompson led his team with 21 points.
