A free skating event will be happening at the Valley City Recreation Center on Saturday, December 15, from 1-3 p.m.
Families will get to come and have a fun time eating cookies, having drinks, and spending time with family and friends.
The event is sponsored by Heritage Insurance, who has partnered with the Optimist Club to put the event on for the community.
Managers Toni Seidel and Trent Moritz said the everyone had such a good time last year and that they were happy to sponsor the event again.
“This is our Christmas give-back to the community," Seidel said. "We're offering a free event for everyone."
Seidel went into more detail as to how all of this got started. "We have eleven offices throughout the state," Seidel said, "each of which does an event for their community, so we thought this could be something people like. It always sounded like the Optimist's Sunday nights were popular, so we tried it and got a very good response last year."
Skate rentals are free and all the coordinators ask is that attendees bring a non-perishable food item to donate.
Seidel and Moritz are hopeful for a great turnout.
Bring the family and enjoy games such as limbo, great music, and snacks. Gift cards for prizes will be giving away throughout the event all while classic Christmas music is playing for everyone.
