Megan Zarbano, owner of Handy Hardware & Rental in Valley City, N.D., was recently named one of the hardware industry’s eight 2018 Young Retailer of the Year Award honorees by the North American Retail Hardware Association (NRHA).

The NRHA program, now in its 22nd year, identifies and promotes the next generation of aspiring independent home improvement retailers. It recognizes individual achievement by industry retailers age 35 and younger throughout the U.S. and Canada. Selected from three separate retail categories, honorees are chosen based on a number of criteria, including professional milestones, community engagement, continuing hardware industry education and extracurricular activities.

Megan Zarbano was only 23 years old when she purchased a hardware store in Valley City, N.D. In the nearly 10 years since, she’s shown that even at a young age, she has the talent to build a strong business.
