Ernest James “Jim” Altringer

Ernest “Jim” Altringer, age 81, of Valley City, ND, died Sunday, October 28th at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Fargo, ND. A celebration of life service will be held at 7:00 PM Saturday, November 3rd at Epworth United Methodist Church in Valley City. The family will greet friends one hour before the service on Saturday evening at the church.
Ernest James Altringer, the son of Harold and Genevieve (Hartman) Bellon, Sr., was born June 22, 1931 in Jamestown, ND. Jim graduated from Jamestown High School and shortly after joined the US Army. He was stationed in Japan during the Korean Conflict. He retired from the military after 23 years of service. Throughout his life, his main occupation was that of managing grain elevators. Jim was united in marriage to Rosemary Albrecht in 1954 until her death in 1992. From this loving union, five daughters were born. In 1999, Jim got a second chance at love and married Doris Maulis and gained three step-daughters. Jim had a love and respect for God, his family and his country.
Jim is survived by his wife Doris, Valley City, ND; five daughters, Deborah Brown, Dent, MN, Sandra (Robert) Conrad, Fargo, ND, Karen Dunwell, Dent, MN, Kimberly Baumgartner, Valley City, ND and Becky (Robert) Roehrich, Leonard, ND; three step-daughters, Sandra Stoltz, Beresford, SD, Lana Maher, Valley City, ND and Claudette Swanson, Imperial, NE; one brother, Harold “Corky” (Susie) Bellon, Jr, Hope, ND; three sisters, Maxine Heupel, Aberdeen, SD, Gale Rucker, Minneapolis, MN and Carol (Vern) Issack, Newport, MN; 13 grandchildren; 8 step-grandchildren; many great-grandchildren.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Rosemary, two brothers, LeRoy Altringer and DuWayne Altringer and three sisters, Lu Craft, Grace Albrecht and Shirley Odegaard.
