Cooperstown Woman Hurt in BC Crash Monday

Katie Hedstrom of Cooperstown was seriously hurt in a one-vehicle accident on a black top road Monday in Barnes County, north of Valley City, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

According to a release from the Patrol, Hedstrom was driving a 2009 Chevrolet Malibu on Barnes County Road 21, nine miles north of Valley City at 7:30 a.m.

The car drifted from the southbound lane into a ditch. A short distance later, the vehicle struck an approach, became airborne and rolled before coming to rest on its wheels.

According to Sgt. Tom Herzig, Hedstrom suffered serious injuries, was transported by ambulance to Valley City, then flown to a hospital in Fargo.

Also responding to the crash were the Barnes County Sheriff's Department, the Barnes County Ambulance and a Barnes County Fire Department.

The driver was wearing a seatbelt. Extensive damage to the front and rear of the car were estimated at $9,000.
