Wednesday, July 20
Barnes County's North Dakota State University Extension Office Nourishing Boomers and Beyond program will cover the digestive system at 2:15 p.m. at Bridgeview Estates in Valley City. 

Music at the Courthouse, featuring Meyer Family of Valley City, will be held at 7:15 p.m. on the Barnes County Courthouse Lawn in Valley City. A free-will offering is taken each night to support the continued work on the City Park Bandshell. Bring your own lawn chair or blanket. In case of inclement weather, the program will be held at the Nazarene Church in Valley City.

Valley City-Barnes County Public Library Circle Time with Melissa Lloyd will be held at 10 a.m., and Story Hour with Mike Lloyd will be held at 10:30 a.m. 

Valley City Public Works will spray for mosquitoes beginning at approximately 7 p.m., weather permitting. Call Public Works at (701) 845-0380 with questions.

Thursday, July 21
A farmers market will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Shopko parking lot in Valley City (weather permitting).

Friday, July 22 and Saturday, July 23
The eighth annual Debbie Gabel Memorial Ride/Event will be held in Valley City. Friday night will feature a street dance at Boomers Corner Keg with entertainment by Front Fenders from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Saturday is the Debbie Gabel Memorial Cancer Ride, which starts and ends at Boomers Corner Keg. Registration starts at 9 a.m. Kickstands up at Noon. Supper following the ride at Boomers Corner Keg.

"Christmas in July" will be held at Fort Ransom State Park. Campers are encouraged to decorate their campsites, do Christmas crafts and attend presentations at the amphitheater each night. Other activities include Santa Claus Bingo and a parade on Saturday. For more information, visit

The KOVC Golf Classic will be held at the Valley City Town & Country Club with a 9 a.m. registration and a 10 a.m. shotgun start. For more information contact KOVC office at (701) 845-1490.

Saturday, July 23
The third annual Del Tibke Memorial Golf Tournament, benefiting the North American Game Warden Museum, will be held at the Valley City Country Club. Tee-Off: 10 a.m. shotgun start. Tournament includes: Flight champions receive cash prizes, hole prizes, hole-in-one prizes, raffle prizes and door prizes. A free public planetarium show, “Night Skies,” will be shown at 1 p.m. in Room 309 of the Rhoades Science Center at Valley City State University. An elevator is available at the west door. The event cost is a freewill donation. For more information, contact Wes Anderson at (701)845-0966.

Sunday, July 24
Epworth United Methodist Men’s ninth annual Corn Feed will be held from 4:30-7 p.m. along with United Methodist Women’s Garden Produce and Bake Sale from 4-7 p.m. Proceeds from corn feed will be used to support Epworth’s youth ministries and produce and bake sale proceeds will support UMW Missions. The church is located at 680 Eighth Ave. SW, Valley City.
