Alan Duppler

Alan Duppler, 62, died September 7, 2013 at the Golden Living Center in Moorhead, MN. Alan was born in Miles City, MT on July 12, 1951. He graduated from Baker (MT) High school in 1969 and attended Concordia College graduating Cum Laude with a major in English and a minor in Theater.
He married Norma Duppler on Feb. 24, 1973. Alan graduated from UND Law school in 1977. He worked as DJ at a radio station in Baker, MT during the summers while attending school. After law school he moved to Devils Lake with Norma. He worked in child support and enforcement. In 1981, they moved to Stanton and later Hazen, ND while he was working as States Attorney for Mercer County, ND.
Alan and Norma had 2 children William and Lynn Marie while living in Mercer County. In 1991 they moved to a farm south of Valley City, ND and Alan worked as an attorney for the Veterans Administration in Fargo, ND. He worked there for 20 years before retiring to the farm in 2011.
Alan was a talented handyman, gun enthusiast, enjoyed woodworking, blacksmithing, knife making, and photography. He loved going for motorcycle rides through the valley and would never turn down a good biography or non-fiction book. Alan was a black belt in Judo. He was an excellent chef and loved to host dinner parties. Most recently he enjoyed going to the movies and his pet Chihuahua, Biggie.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma; parents Eugene and Laurice (Buck) Duppler.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, William and Kathleen Duppler of Fargo, daughter, Lynn Marie Duppler of Bismarck, ND; granddaughter, Elizabeth Duppler of Fargo; sister and brother-in-law, Valerie and Allen Stockdale of Fargo; nephew, Steven Stockdale of Fargo; and aunts, uncles and cousins.
The funeral service for Alan Duppler will be 10:30 AM, Thursday, September 12, 2013 at the Oliver-Nathan Funeral Chapel, Valley City, ND. Burial will be in the Sheyenne Valley Cemetery, rural Kathryn, ND.
Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Oliver-Nathan Funeral Chapel and will continue there an hour prior to the service Thursday morning.
