The Valley City High School cross country team had two runners place in the top-25 of the Fargo North's Spartan Duals Challenge, which took place Saturday at Johnson Park in Moorhead, Minn.
April Berntson led the Hi-Liner girls with a 10th place finish in the girls varsity 4K race, and Casey Engelhard took 25th in the boys varsity 5K race. Jamie Ronning narrowly missed a top-25 finish, taking 26th in the varsity girls race.

VCSU V-ball Continues Struggles
The Valley City State University volleyball team lost four matches over the weekend at the Corn Palace Classic in Mitchell, S.D.
The Vikings lost 3-1 to Dakota Wesleyan University, and St. Mary (Neb.) on Friday, then lost 3-1 to South Dakota School of Mines and 3-0 to Clark (Iowa.)
The team continues its season tonight with a match at Mayville State. The team hosts a trio of games this weekend at Graichen Gym.

LLM Volleyball Loses 2
The Litchville-Marion/Montpelier volleyball team lost matches last week to Pingree/Buchanan/Kensal and Strasbburg/Zeeland.
The Rebels lost in five games to PBK last Tuesday, falling 25-18, 22-25, 19-25, 25-9, 15-9.
Tasha Piehl led the Rebels with 23 digs and was one of three players on the team to finish with over 10 digs. Sterling Hansen had 15 and Tanys Ulmer had 12. Heather Graalum led LMM with eight kills and Leah Bruse had seven assists.
The Rebels lost in five games Thursday, falling 25-8, 25-13, 25-8. Piehl led LMM with 13 digs. SAmantha Haakenson led the team with four kills. Bruse and Shannon Opdahl each had five assists.
