Eliacin named 3rd Team All American
Valley City State University tight end Ken Eliacin was named to the Beyond Sports Network All-American 3rd Team, making him one of the top six tight-ends in all of the NAIA for the 2012 season.
A senior, Elicacin was the leading receiver for the Vikings with 41 catches for 586 yards, averaging 14.3 yards per catch. He also finished with 7 receiving touchdowns with his longest catch of the season going for 67 yards.
He contributed, on average, 58.6 yards per game on offense. During his career with the Vikings, he finished with 129 receptions for 1,703 yards and 19 touchdowns.

Vikings Sweep Northern N.M.
The Valley City State basketball teams swept Northern New Mexico Sunday in Espanola, N.M.
The No. 17 women won 71-40 and the No. 15 men won 82-67.
It was the ninth win in a row for the women and the fifth in a row for the men. Individual stats were not available at press time.
The Vikings play their final games before Christmas tonight at Johnson and Wales University in Denver, Colo. The women play at 5 p.m. and the men play at 7 p.m. The games will be broadcast online at livestats.prestosports.com/jwudenver.

3 Vikings Named NAIA Football Scholar-Athletes
The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics announced its full list of 259 football student-athletes that were named 2012 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes and three members of the VCSU basketball teams made the list. 
Tyler Kosel, a senior defensive back from Edgeley, Marshall Krebs, a senior lineman from Beulah, and Jacob Shauer, a senior fullback from Williston, all received the award.
In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete mush maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor.
All three have won the award multiple times. Kosel is a three-time scholar athlete, and Krebs and Schauer have both been honored twice.
