SNAPPED: Wahpeton Sticks Hi-Liner Junior Varsity with 1st Loss in 3 Years

September 16, 2014

When all else fails, throw it to Levi Nix.

Nix, the 6-foot, 4-inch sophomore quarterback, climbed the ladder, split two defenders at the 15-yard line and danced into the end zone in Wahpeton on Monday night, but Husky 5-foot, 9-inch sophomore quarterback Tyler Breuer and all his rowdy friends handed the junior varsity Hi-Liners their first loss in three years, 42-6.

“I don’t think they were that much better than us,” Hi-Liner coach Jim Breckheimer said. “But the wheels fell off.”

“They took us out of our gameplan,” Valley City coach Ty Allen said.

Junior Varsity Girls 2nd at Fargo North Meet

September 14, 2014

Saturday’s meet in Fargo turned into a major gathering of Eastern Dakota Conference powers and other schools from Minnesota and North Dakota. It was good preparation for EDC [Regionals], which will be coming in only four weeks.

Solid performances were turned in by several Hi-Liners; tough competition, cool weather and a flat course led to several personal-best times. Every one of the Hi-Liner boys competing had a PR for [his] respective distance. Several of the girls had their best times of the season.
