A Valley City man was arrested early Friday for possession of child pornography.
According to a press release from Valley City Police Chief Fred Thompson, the VCPD was contacted by a man who alleged the man was in possession of child pornography. After interviewing the woman, and investigation was started.
"As the investigation progressed, sufficient information for the Valley City Police Department to submit for a search warrant for the purpose of locating any images of child pornography located there. The search warrant was approved and was served at approximately 5 p.m. on Thursday," according to the press release.
During execution of the search warrant, multiple electronic devices and electronic storage media were seized as evidence. These devices were sent to to the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigations for a forensic examination.
The alleged possessor of these items was placed imder arrest for possession of certain materials prohibited, a class C felony.
"As this investigation is continuing, and as the results of the forensic examination of the seized evidence bears importance to this incident, upon receiving the results of the examination, the entire investigation will be submitted to the Barnes County State's Attorney for consideration of additional charges. It is expected to take several months before the forensic examinations are completed," said Thompson.
