Vikings Sweep Dakota State
The Valley City State University basketball teams swept Dakota State University Thursday night in Madison, S.D. The No. 24 Viking men won 63-54 and the No. 25 women won 57-54.
The women had a 29-22 lead at halftime, but allowed a late run by the Trojans to make it a 3-point game. The Viking women shot only 10-34 in the second half and had only four points from Brittany Lehner, who snagged 10 rebounds.
Katie Ralston led Valley City with 17 points and Kelsey Hunter had 10.
The Viking men led 32-27 at halftime and put it away late. They finished the game shooting 46 percent from the floor, despite being out-rebounded 38-32.
Sekani Milligen led the Vikings with 17 points. Gus Kueber finished with 13 points and nine rebounds, and Dylan Ostrom had 11.
Raider boys beat FSHP
The Maple Valley boys basketball team beat Finley-Sharon/Hope-Page 69-52 in Tower City Thursday.
Jordan Haseleu led the Raiders with 35 points and James Richman had 13.
BCN Swept by Griggs Co. Central
The Barnes County North basketball teams were swept by Griggs County Central Thursday in Rogers. The Bison boys lost 47-41 and the girls lost 40-27.
The boys trailed 13-10 at the end of the first quarter, but took a 21-20 lead into halftime. Out of halftime, the Bison were limited to six points in the third quarter, which they couldn't make up.
Jacoby Kramlich and Brad Clemens led BCN with 12 points each.
The girls struggled from the start, getting outscored 39-15 in the first three quarters.
Calby Hanson led BCN with 12 points, including 10 of the first 15. Kayla Erker had six points.
