The Barnes County Commission voted unanimously to raise the pay of the county Tax Director Betty Koslovski from Grade 9 to Grade 11.
Koslovski wiped tears from her eyes as she asked for worthwhile compensation from the commission.
“I think for what your position entails, you definitely should be a (Grade) 10 for sure,” Commissioner John Froelich said.
Koslovski is head of the county’s tax department, and Commissioner Phil Leitner said the responsibilities of county department heads varies from office to office.
Leitner said if Koslovski is not the best department head the county has, she definitely is among the top three.
“All department heads are not created equal in their job responsibilities,” Leitner said.
“She clearly deserves to be paid more than a Grade 9.”
