VCSU Music Hall of Fame Banquet will be held at the Town & Country Club in Valley City. Two outstanding individuals will inducted into the Hall of Fame: William A. Lydell and Gloria Peterson (in memoriam). All VCSU alumni and friends of the university are invited to attend. A social hour will begin at 6 p.m. with dinner served at 6:30 p.m. The evening will include reminiscences about their days at VCSU as well as the exceptional contributions they have both made to music during their careers. Tickets remain on sale through Sept. 3. Tickets will not be available at the door.
Valley City State University’s Concert Choir will be holding its Annual End of Summer Rummage Sale on Saturday, Sept. 15, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Foss Music Hall on the VCSU campus. Proceeds from the sale support the choir’s activities such as tours. The choir is still accepting items for donation to the sale. Items will be accepted until Friday, Sept. 14, and can be brought to the Foss Music Hall Office. All items except TVs, microwaves, and clothing are welcome. Please call the VCSU Department of Music at 701-845-7272 if help is needed in transporting any item to campus for the sale.
The Whoever Can Come band will be hosting an open to all jam session at the Barnes County Museum Saturday Sept 15, from 1-4 p.m. This is free and open to all to attend. A good time will be had by all.
Sunday, September 16
Waldhem Lutheran Church in rural Kathryn will host a meatball and lefse dinner from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
The Barnes County Senior Center will be hosting the next performance of the “Whoever Can Come Band” jam session 2 p.m. A coffee break and potluck supper will also be part of the activities.
Singspiration at Homewood, featuring an evening of gospel music in an old, recently restored barn, will begin at 4 p.m. at the Tim and Becky Hager farm, Valley City. Take exit 288 off the interstate, drive 5 1/2 miles south on Highway 1 and 1 3/4 miles west. The event is not handicapped accessible; visitors must be able to climb steps. Refreshments will be served following the program.
The P.E.O. Tour of Homes, sponsored by Chapter AZ of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Five Valley City area homes will be featured on this year’s tour: 3066 Country Meadows; 3529 Webster Subdivision; 1151 Fifth St. NE; 731 Central Ave. N.; and 530 Third St. SE. Tickets for the tour are $8 and may be purchased at any of the homes the day of the tour or at Quilted Ceiling, downtown Valley City, or from any chapter member.

The Valley City Sheyenne Valley Garden Club will meet in The Past President’s Room at The Eagles Club. The program, “Bees” will be presented by Roger Eggen of Plymouth, Minn. For more information call 845-1805.
Election 2012 - A Time for Women?, will be the subject of a presentation 7:30 p.m. in Froemke Auditorium on the Valley City State University campus. The forum about women in politics will feature seven women candidates, including Ellen Chaffee, former president of VCSU.

Fingal American Legion Auxiliary will meet at 2 p.m. at the Embassy Cafe. La Vetta is the hostess.
Wednesday, September 19
Valley City Barnes County Public Library will host story hour from 10:30 to 11 a.m. at the library. The theme will be “School Stories.”
Mercy Nurses Alumni will meet for lunch at noon at Roby’s Café.
Thursday, September 20
Supper night at the Barnes County Senior Center will begin at 5:30 p.m. The entree will be meatballs, and entertainment will be provided by the Ueland Sisters of Ulen, Minn.
The Barnes County Historical Society Lecture Series Season 15 Presents: Dr. Diana Skroch (VCSU) “Travels in Vietnam and Cambodia” 7 p.m. at the Barnes County Museum. Skroch will show slides of her recent trip to Vietnam and Cambodia.

The Sheyenne Valley Arts & Crafts Association is celebrating the 45th Annual Sheyenne Valley Arts & Crafts Festival on Sept. 29 and 30 in Fort Ransom, ND. St. Agatha’s Church will hold their annual fall supper from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at the Hope American Legion in Hope, ND. The cost is $10 for adults age 12 and up, $5 for youth ages 6-11 and $2 for youth 5 and younger. The menu will feature turkey dressing meatballs, mashed potatoes and all the trimmings.
