The Sheyenne Valley Friends of Animals will be hosting its fourth annual Wag and Walk-A-Thon later this month and is currently seeking volunteers.
Tracy Lee, who will be coordinating the event, said participants will fill out a brouchure that has a pledge sheet. Participants will gather pledges from friends, family and neighbors.
Lee said anyone can volunteer, and they are looking for people to fill a variety of tasks.
SVFA is looking for people to help set up and tear down tables and put up decorations for the event. Lee said the task will involve light lifting. They also need people to handle money and transactions for the rummage sale that they will have there.
Also needed are volunteers to direct people at the breakfast and lunch tables, letting them know about the free will offering.
Those interested in volunteering can call the Sheyenne Valley Friends of Animals at (701) 840-5047 or email firstname.lastname@example.org .
The proceeds raised from the event will support the organization’s foster care animals. The money will provide food, medicine and other supplies needed to the dogs who are fostered through SVFA.
The event will begin Saturday, Aug. 25, with a short walk through Chautauqua Park following with a lunch and rummage sale. Participants in the Walk-A-Ton will also be able to use the dog park, where their dogs can be off leash.
“All that we ask is that the animals be up on their vaccinations,” Lee said.
New this year is a four man obedience team that will be at the park. Lee said there’s a little something for everyone to enjoy.
“It’s a fun day to be out with your animal and family,” Lee said.
