Coit, Gilbertson medal at big meet

Valley City High School’s Sam Coit and Sara Gilbertson were the team’s lone medalists this weekend at the West Fargo Invite Saturday. The two took fifth place in No. 2 doubles, finishing 4-1 in the tournament. The other placers for the team included Jessica Gylden and Maia Wendel at No. 3 doubles (6th place) and Abby Ingstad at No. 5 singles (6th place.) The Hi-Liners’ top doubles team of Kierstin Lorenz and Clarissa Olson went 2-2. Coach Matt Nielson said the team’s 14 wins at the tournament was the most during his tenure. The Hi-Liner varsity team plays a match today at 4:30 p.m. in Jamestown, its last before regional competition starts Thursday.
