The 79th North Dakota Winter Show is set to open Saturday, March 5. Kicking off the eight-day event will be a Totally Kids Weekend, followed by a country concert Saturday evening and many more popular and new events to follow.

The annual agriculture show has expanded by two days this year, bringing in several new events and keeping the all-time favorites, said Manager Dawn Riley.

A Totally Kids Weekend is set for Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the South Exhibit Building. For a $5 entry fee, kids of all ages can enjoy a magician, comedy show, dog show and more. The $5 fee covers all events. Adults will be admitted for free with a paid child.

Featured acts are Keith Raymond, a magician; Kyle Groves, a magician and comedian; and Flying Houndz, a frisbee trick dog show. Activities scheduled for the weekend include water walkers, laser tag, inflatable bouncy horses, a barrel train, a coloring station, and jumbo games like Checkers and Jenga.

"It's going go be so fun, there's lots of activities planned with that," Riley said.

Saturday evening Nashville-based country group Old Dominion takes the stage in the Main Arena at 7 p.m. Opening acts are Fargo's 32 Below and Blind Joe, a Kindred, N.D. native.

Commercial exhibits will be set up in the Main Exhibit Building throughout the show. Ag Challenge exhibits will be set up in the South Exhibit Building Monday and Tuesday.
Sunday will feature a new event to the Winter Show, Fully Loaded Wrestling.

Also Sunday will be the Classic Steer Show at 2 p.m. and Market Hog Show at 3 p.m. in the West Arena. The Classic Steer/Hog Auction will be held at 6 p.m. at the Valley City Eagles Club.
