Valley City Police Lt. David Swenson and Police Chief Fred Thompson have each issued a grievance against Mayor Bob Werkhoven for allegedly creating a hostile work environment.

That's three city officials who've issued a grievance to attorney Joseph Larson against the mayor this week. City Attorney Russell Myhre issued a grievance Monday because of a statement Werkhoven made to the media and an incident following a meeting in November that allegedly created a hostile work environment.

Swenson issued his complaint Tuesday. Swenson claims that Werkhoven has not liked him since he was being investigated in 2011 with then Police Chief Dean Ross.

Thompson submitted his grievance Wednesday. Thompson claims that Werkhoven spread false rumors about him and "engages in a calculated effort to undermine my character, authority and leadership."
