No one was injured but a car and a semi were damaged in a crash on Highway 1 near Sanborn Tuesday afternoon.

According to a release from the North Dakota Highway Patrol, at 2:30 p.m., Karl Burkhart of Dazey was driving a 2012 Ford Fusion westbound on Barnes County Road 22 when he came to a stop at a stop sign at the Highway 1 intersection, one mile east of Sanborn.

Burkart, 88, pulled out in front of a 2016 Kenworth semi/tanker combination driven by Larry Feske of West Fargo, the release said.

In an attempt to avoid a crash, Feske, 58, steered the semi to the left, and Burkart struck the right side of the semi. Both vehicles came to rest in the west ditch, north of the intersection. No fuel was spilled at the scene.

Front end and left side damage to Burkart's vehicle totaled $8,500, and the semi had $7,000 in right side damage. Burkhart was cited for failing to yield.

The crash remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol.
