The 2013 Barnes County Girls Tournament championship game will have a familiar feel to it.
For the second straight year, Maple Valley and Valley City High Schools will meet Saturday afternoon to determine the Barnes County Tournament championship.
The Hi-Liners advanced to the game with a 70-33 win over Sargent Central Friday at W.E. Osmon Fieldhouse and the Raiders beat Enderlin 42-35 in the final game of the night.
It will be a rematch of earlier this season, when Valley City beat the Raiders in overtime, causing Maple Valley’s only loss of the year so far. The teams split a series last year, with Valley City winning a game in Maple Valley, but the Raiders beating VCHS in the BCT championship.
In Valley City’s win Friday, the Hi-Liners pressed early and reaped the benefits, causing eight steals and 13 turnovers in the first half.
The Hi-Liners had the highest-scoring quarter of the tournament so far, going up 24-6 after the first and 39-11 by halftime.
Four Hi-Liners finished the game with double digit scoring. Madison Taylor led VC with 17 points, followed closely by Megan McDaniel with 16 points. Dierra Diegel had 12 points and a team-high seven rebounds, and Jessica Denholm had 11 points.
Hannah Schlecht led Sargent Central with 20 points. Jamie Mlnarik had seven points and Rane Nelson had six to round out the Cadets’ scoring.
The Raiders’ win wass physical, even if the score early didn’t show it.
Maple Valley went up 11-2 in the first quarter, not allowing a point until the final 10 seconds. But in the second, Enderlin started connecting on shots and narrowed the Maple Valley lead to 22-14 by halftime, including a long buzzer-beating 3-pointer from Krista Thielges.
As the night continued, Enderlin kept up the pressure and got the Raiders’ lead as low at seven points with 1:32 left, but couldn’t close the gap any further.
Rylee Nudell led Maple Valley. By halftime, she racked up a double double, getting 13 points and 11 rebounds, and later finished with 20 points and 16 rebounds. She was helped by Abbie Tinjum, who had eight points, and Megan Kasowski, who had 10 rebounds and four points.
Megan Johnson led Enderlin with 14 points and nine rebounds. Kelsey Laufenberg added 10 points and five rebounds.
Enderlin and Sargent Central play at 3 p.m. in the third place game.

FSHP 47, Griggs County Central 24
Finley-Sharon/Hope-Page broke away in the 2nd half to win its consolation semifinal game 47-24 over Griggs County Central.
The Spartans and Cougars were tied 10-10 after the first quarter and 18-18 at halftime but allowed only six points the rest of the game.
Lexi Archer, Kendra Breckheimer, Alyssa Anderson and Chauna Ihry, who had eight points each, led FSHP.
Presley Painter led GCC with eight points.

LLM 42, BCN 42
The LaMoure/Litchville-Marion girls advanced to the tournament’s 5th place game with a 28-42 win over Barnes County North.
The Loboes limited the Bison to less than 10 points in all four quarters, taking an 18-12 lead at halftime and never letting up.
LLM was led by Courtney Carlson, Abby Warcken and Jacy Alber finish with 8 points each. Calby Hansen led BCN with 7 points.
