VOLLEYBALL: Raiders Edge Cadets

Maple Valley volleyball (0-1-0 District 2, 5-1-2 overall) ventured southeast to Forman to face District 1's Sargent Central (2-1, 2-1) on Tuesday night.

The Raiders and Cadets traded the first four sets — three of which were decided by two points — but Maple Valley came through in the fifth set for a 3-2 (14-25, 25-23, 22-25, 26-24, 15-12) win.

Maple Valley senior setter Kaylee Hanson, junior middle blocker Megan Kasowski and sophomore middle blocker Rylee Nudell connected on an ace each.

Senior setter Abbie Tinjum dished out 36 assists, junior outside hitters Katie Pautz seven and Ashley Punton one.

Kasowski and Nudell blocked three shots each.

Punton swooped for 24 digs, sophomore libero Kiana Bakalar 16, Pautz 14, Tinjum 10, Nudell nine, Kasowski and Hanson eight each.
