Vikings Spike Mystics

Viking volleyball opened its home schedule with a 3-1 victory Monday night over Bismarck State College.

The Vikings (4-7) handed the Mystics (9-1) their first loss of the season, 25-19, 25-17, 20-25, 25-16.

Middle hitter Aurissa Martens led the Vikings with 10 kills and Alley Theroux added eight as VCSU picked up its fourth win of the season and second win in a row.

Stephanie Miller led the Vikings with 20 assists and Anna Neufeld added 15 more. Rachel Hummel totaled seven kills and two blocks.

Bismarck State was led by Madison Deibert with 13 kills.

Up next: Valley City State is off until Wednesday, Sept. 11 when they host rival University of Jamestown for the first conference match of the season.
