Twenty-two teams competed in June 21’s Viking Golf Scramble, hosted by the Viking Century Club, at Bjornson Park and the Valley City Town and Country Club.

The Scramble, one of the largest fundraisers for Valley City State student-athlete scholarships, featured sponsors including Dacotah Bank, Farmers Union Insurance, LaFarge, Miller Motors, Leevers Foods, Heritage, Valley Realty and Wick Construction.

The Championship Flight team of James Thornton, Steve Sedler, Cody Flatten, Jerod Satrom and Kory Klubben won with a 14-under score of 57.

Second place went to the team of Jesse Brooks, Danny Hangaard, Tyler Stearns, Zach Johnson and Danny Sam that shot a 13-under 58.

Bob Bergan, Chad Bergan, Doug Bergan, Pat Bresnahan and Ken Dodd also carded a 58 and took third by tiebreaker.

Brian Yanish, Casey Olney, Kari Olney, Mark Potts and Kirk Olson’s Open Flight team carded a score of nine-under (62) to finish in first.

Fourteen different teams finished at least 8-under par (63) on the day, after which golfers enjoyed a dinner, raffle and several hole contests. Miller Motors and Farmers Union Insurance sponsored Hole-In-One prizes, but no one was able to cash in.
