Viking Baseball Splits Weekend Against Dakota State

Viking junior right-hander Mike Gershman (right) pitched a complete-game shutout, allowed three hits through seven innings and faced just 25 total batters in Saturday’s early 3-0 win

Valley City State baseball beat Dakota State 3-2 in 10 innings in Friday’s first game and 5-2 in the second, then split Saturday’s games with a 3-0 win early and a 4-3, 11-inning defeat late.

The Vikings improved to 6-4 in North Star action and 15-22 overall.

Valley City hosts University of Winnipeg in a pair of non-conference games at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Wednesday.
