Thankfully, Tom Meaney’s dad relayed the message from his high school drama teacher.
The teacher said she was honored to have Meaney as a student.
“It had a big impact on me,” Meaney said. “I thought that should tell me something right there.”
Now, Meaney is ready to follow his dreams to the big screen.
Meaney, a former Valley City State University student, has acted in local university productions and is now represented by Fargo talent agent Natalie Sparrow.
Finding an agent was one of Meaney’s biggest challenges in launching an acting career from a small town. Meaney said his former theater director Martin Kelly suggested he contact Linda Hinrichs at the Fargo-Moorhead Community Theater, who finally turned him toward Sparrow.
Meaney takes acting lessons twice every month from Fargo acting coach, Marty Jonason.
Through Sparrow, Meaney learned about a talent showcase in Chicago, the Launch Showcase. This interactive showcase allows actors, models, singers, and dancers to meet legitimate agents, scouts and casting directors from across the world. Meaney said it involves interviews, auditions and callbacks as opportunities to show off talent and skills.
