Starke, Keystone reach agreement
Monday, 30 June 2008
An agreement reached Wednesday between landowner Richard Starke and Keystone engineer Buster Gray would close much of the watershed of the Sheyenne River east of Valley City to future Keystone pipelines.

The agreement allows Keystone to build a pipeline near the eastern edge of Starke’s property but prohibits future pipelines on any of his land, which stretches about two miles from the Peak Road to the Soo Line railroad track near Valley City.
The Peak Road is four miles east of Valley City and one mile west of the top of the glacial moraine, or ridge, which forms the watershed for the Sheyenne River. Keystone can still build future pipelines in the watershed between the Peak Road and the top of the moraine.
