This week has been chosen to highlight the importance of a safe and dependable source of drinking water for the people of North Dakota. Gov. John Hoeven declared May 4-10 Drinking Water Week and called on citizens to help protect the state's source waters from pollution. The North Dakota Department of Health considers Valley City water to be “susceptible” to contamination, based on the recently completed delineation and contaminant/land use inventory conducted in cooperation with the North Dakota Source Water Protection Program. However, according to this year's Annual Drinking Water Quality Report, Valley City water meets all federal Environmental Protection Agency standards for drinking water. “I'm pleased to report that our drinking water is safe and meets federal and state requirements,” said Valley City Water Treatment Plant Superintendent Wade Hesch.
