Darrin Dahl, arrested after a standoff with police outside of Luverne, has been evaluated at North Dakota State Hospital in Jamestown and transferred to jail in Trail County, according to Steele County Sheriff Wayne Beckman. Dahl surrendered after a 20-hour siege in which he fired shots at the Jamestown Special Operations Team. The SWAT team did not return fire and a negotiator was able to convince Dahl to come out of the house voluntarily. “The tactical team from Jamestown did a really good job,” Beckman said. Dahl fled to an acquaintance’s house after firing shots into an occupied house. According to Beckman, Dahl said that someone inside owed him money.Griggs County Assistant State's Attorney Charlie Stock said Dahl was arrested for reckless endangerment but anticipated charges being filed for criminal mischief and one or more counts of attempted murder.
