Letter from Leon Pytlik Valley City, N.D. I am concerned about the public's right to know what is happening in city government. It has been some time since an agenda has been made public ahead of time, other than actually going to City Hall to pick up a copy -- something that few people will do. I have talked to city officials about this in the past, as well as the Times-Record. Each blamed the other. When CSI decided to broadcast the city commission meetings, I thought that was a great idea. The problem is, even on a good day, only part of the conversation can be heard. Some microphones blow you out of your chair and others can't be heard, that is if they work at all. I called CSI, they blame the City. I called the City Auditor, she said CSI and a private contractor who installed the system were working on it. My suggestion is, if it doesn't work, get equipment that will work, and get an agenda before the public, before the meeting. If funding is a problem, I would be glad to make suggestions on funding that would keep the public informed without raising taxes.
