Plan for jail co-op gets another look
Tuesday, 08 April 2008

Jennifer Feist, executive director of the Barnes County/Valley City Development Corp., presented the latest draft of the jail plan to the Valley City Commission on Monday evening.
Feist asked the city commission for a conditional approval from Valley City to acknowledge their continued participation to the consortium meeting Wednesday.
Since Steele County announced it intended to out of the consortium, the alternatives for making up their financial share in the project are to pro-rate it among the remaining partners, or for Valley City and Barnes County to assume the additional cost, Feist said.    Commissioners agreed, voting unanimously to approve an additional $75,000 for the project in the event of a short-cash flow.
