Republican "spin machine" is out of control

To the editor:
It’s too bad Republicans forgot their campaign pledges to education and are tryingto spin proper education funding as bigger government.  It shows they are not committed to education in North Dakota and are making every excuse in the book not to seem that way.
Governor John Hoeven promised higher teacher salaries in North Dakota in his 2000 bid for governor.  We rank 49 out of 50 in the country right now.  Is that fulfilling a promise?  He has tried but may need to again hold the republican dominated legislature accountable in order not to fail in that promise.
Also, property taxes would go down in North Dakota if Republicans would agree to fund education adequately and equitably.  Higher property taxes are a direct result of local governments trying to fund funding for their schools.
Republicans have controlled the state capitol for over 15 years.
I'm tired of Republican excuses in Bismarck.
What better way to use the huge reserve - for education. The Republican spin machine is out of control.
