Johnson responds to charges

By Steve Johnson
Valley City Times-Record

Former City Administrator Dave Johnson Wednesday responded to charges that he violated the Corrupt Practices Act of the North Dakota Century Code.
Johnson said that he had not yet received formal notification of the charges, but that he believed that Robert Drake and those associated with the Citizens for Community Involvement (CCI) organization were in violation of the same charges they accused him of.
Drake filed a complaint in Barnes County alleging that Johnson had violated the law making Failure to Disclose Name of Sponsor in a Political Advertisement a Class A misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in prison and a $2,000 fine.
The complaint stems from a web site that went online during the 2006 City Commission race, a web site that Johnson later admitted to creating.
