Fargo’s nearly 60 miles away, and celebrating the new year at home in front of a television set isn’t everyone’s idea of a good time. Plus, Barnes County doesn’t have any happening places to celebrate the new year, right? Guess again. Here’s the scoop on some of what’s happening in the Valley tonight and tomorrow as we celebrate another year gone, and another one to come.
* Labor Club will have the band Triple Play on stage from 9 p.m. until closing.
* Captain’s Pub will have $2 Captain Morgan drinks and a DJ will be on stage from 9 p.m. until closing.
* Peanut Bar will be handing out champagne for the New Year’s countdown, and music can be played on the jukebox at no charge.
* The Sheyenne Saloon in Kathryn will have karaoke.
* Valley City Town and County Club is having a New Year’s Eve supper from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. (reservations suggested) with a choice of lobster, chicken cordon bleu, filet mignon, prime rib, baby back ribs, or halibut. Prices for the dinner can vary from $12.95 to $29.95.
* Sabir’s Supper Club is having an all-you-can-eat buffet from 5 to 10 p.m featuring prime rib, steak, walleye, shrimp scampi, and many other foods for $29.95 per person.
* Valley City’s American Legion will have free Tom and Jerry drinks on New Year’s Day from 1 p.m. until gone (estimate: 8 p.m.).
