Horizon Publications, Inc., recently named Roger Bluhm the new publisher of the Valley City Times-Record. Bluhm is a 21-year veteran of newspapers. He spent nine years working as a sports writer and sports editor before spending the last 12 years as an editor at various newspapers. Previous stops include Branson, Mo., and Daytona Beach, Fla. “Roger comes to the Times-Record after running the Griggs County Courier in Cooperstown for the past two years as editor and general manager,” said Horizon Publications Chief Operating Officer B.J. Riley. "We are fortunate to have Roger join the Times-Record. Roger's experience in community newspapers will serve the community and the Times-Record well. I know that he will continue to help the excellent staff at the newspaper continue to produce a good product each day," Riley said. Bluhm said, “I’ve worked in daily newspapers the majority of my career. I believe a newspaper should be a leader in the community. It should be balanced in its coverage and fair in its dealings with its customers.” The new publisher also believes in helping the community. “In past years, I’ve been a part of Lions Club, Rotary Club and other service organizations,” Bluhm said. “I look forward to jumping in and doing what I can to help.” In his time off, Bluhm enjoys watching all sports and loves to golf. Bluhm is married with two daughters. Both he and his wife are natives from the Mitchell, S.D., area. “We made an effort to move back to the Dakotas because of the people,” Bluhm said. “My family and I are looking forward to moving to Valley City in the near future.” The Bluhm family currently makes its home in Cooperstown. He took over duties as Times-Record publisher this week, having assumed his new duties Monday afternoon.
