By Steve Browne Times-Record staff writer The North Dakota Highway Patrol has not found evidence to pursue the case of an attempted kidnapping at the Oriska rest area on Interstate 94 on Nov. 27. The father of a Griggs County woman reported to the patrol that his daughter called him after stopping at the rest stop. According to the Barnes County Sheriff’s Office, the father told the patrol that his daughter said a man grabbed her by the arm as she came out of the restroom and wouldn’t let go when she told him to. The young woman kicked the man in the groin and ran to her car, a sheriff’s office report says. Highway Patrol personnel reviewed video recordings from the rest stop but found nothing to pursue the investigation further, said Highway Patrol Lt. Bryan Niewind. Niewind said the incident report will be forwarded to the Barnes County States Attorney office as a routine measure, and they are not recommending charges for filing a false report at this time, contrary to some media accounts. Lee Grossman, Barnes County assistant state’s attorney, said this morning his office has not received any report related to the incident.
