Barnes County resident Dennis Stillings is attracting international attention for his opposition to wind farms.
On Thursday, Takushi Harima of the Tokyo Broadcasting System interviewed Stillings, who lives near NextEra Energy Resources’ wind farm about 15 miles northeast of Valley City.
Harima asked Stillings what the view was like, whether he has noticed adverse health effects and about noise.
Stillings said the wind farm produces a constant, irritating sound. He said he and his wife, Cathryn, can’t keep the noise out of their house.
“NextEra has been very disingenuous about this because they claim that there is no serious noise pollution,” Stillings said.
On Thursday, the wind and noise were at a minimum.
Harima, the Washington, D.C., bureau chief of TBS, said his company was recording a program about alternate energy sources.
