Post 19 places 2nd at Casselton tournament |

LaMoure Legion Post 19 placed second this weekend in the Ag Country Summer Classic Legion Baseball Tournament held in Casselton on Saturday and Sunday. After breezing through Ada, Minn. and Wheaton, Minn., LaMoure met its match in the championship against host Casselton, losing 9-1. LaMoure scored first, with leadoff batter Ben Holen crossing the plate in the top of the first, but Casselton starter Beau Sinner was lights out from there, allowing just four hits and the one run in the game. Casselton took the lead with two in the bottom of the first, and then broke the game open with two in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings. Sinner got the win, while Holen took the loss for LaMoure, working four innings and giving up five runs. Brett Hample had two hits to lead Post 19 at the plate. Holen and Gaige Dunn had LaMoure’s other two hits. Cassleton’s Brandon Rust went 4-for-4 with two runs and an RBI. Jacob Mogen added three hits and three RBIs. With their 2-1 record at the tournament, LaMoure moves to 11-5 overall. Dunn pitched LaMoure to an 11-1 win over Ada, and Ben Watkins picked up the win in a 9-1 victory against Wheaton.
