Chad and Kari Shape, Valley City, are the parents of a son, Derek Russell, born Aug. 23 2007. He weighed 6 pounds, 14 ounces. Grandparents are Joe and Linda McKenna and Pat and Arlen Shape, all of Valley City. Great-grandparents are Chuck Schelkoph and Russell Shape, both of Valley City. Great-great-grandmother is Martha Opdahl of Fargo. Derek joins two brothers: Zachary, 5, and Austin, 3.
