By Jean Schlegel Valley City Times-Record Thirty-year-old Stephanie Riedlinger of West Fargo was diagnosed with Stage 3 rectal cancer in October of 2008. She is the daughter of life-long Valley City residents, Dale and Eloise Olson, and a graduate of Oriska High School. Since the cancer diagnose, Riedlinger has undergone intense treatments of chemotherapy and radiation. She has also endured a dangerous surgery to remove the cancerous tumor from her body. She is now undergoing another series of chemotherapy treatments. Riedlinger, her 8-year-old daughter, Autumn, and her family and friends have gone through a lot since the diagnose. But she has a positive attitude and strong desire to survive. Unfortunately, the financial burden has been difficult. Her medical bills and inability to work during painful times have been a hardship. Family and friends have gotten together and have a cancer benefit planned for Friday, March 27, at the Valley City Eagles to help Riedlinger during these trying times. All proceeds will go directly to Riedlinger and her daughter. The event is for all ages. A spaghetti feed (free-will donation) is from 5 to 7:30 p.m. A silent auction and raffle items will be available for bidding. The raffle winners will be announced from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Music by Hammer Karaoke and DJ is scheduled from 8:30 p.m. to midnight, with a $3 cover charge. Supplemental funding has been applied for through Thrivent Financial, Barnes County Chapter and Dakota Medical Foundation. Donation items for the silent auction and raffle are being accepted and are appreciated. For further information, contact Tara Morris at 701-729-1257 or Vicki Klein at 701-281-5296.
